Saturday came and with it, Oliver's message about an hour before the party would start.

'An emergency case came up. I'm really sorry about being late... I promise I'll make up for it! Please wait for me there, I'll be there as soon as possible!' Beside him, someone sighed slightly annoyed.

"How often do you want to read through that? It won't change anything. He will still be late, you know", Damian stated dryly eying him from the right side.

Jasper pouted and put his phone away, giving him a withering look.

"I know that. It's just...", he shrugged. "A bummer, is all. It's our second date and I was really looking forward to surprise him with my outfit. It took me hours~", he sighed and gestured down at his outfit while they were walking down the street from the train station to their destination - one of the Montgomery's famous buildings. Not enough that this family owned the hospital they were working in, they apparently owned many other buildings too, like the glamorous but pompous and huge hotel in front of them.

"If he said he'll come, he'll come. Don't worry. And until then, we'll keep you company", Sophia beside him tried to cheer him up and elbowed him good humouredly in the side.

"And I still think your outfit is amazing... How you manage to walk so easily in those high shoes is beyond me by the way. I would fall and break my neck like every three minutes", she added, throwing him an awed look. Jasper felt heat rise up in his cheeks and looked down at his black high heels. He had really made an effort this year. He wore a coquettish, quite short black and white maid outfit including gray tight stockings, a wig, had made himself up and to round it all off, Sophia had given him a bloody neck injury so that it looked as if someone had cut his throat. He looked just about the right mix of spooky, sexy and cute in his opinion.

"Ahaha, thanks Sophia~ and it's really just practice. We can try some time, if you want", he said and waved it off.

"Don't put yourself down Sophia. You look stunning tonight", Damian chided and winked at her in her light pink Princess Peach outfit. She had rather gone for cute than spooky with her costume, since she scared easily and didn't like the horror genre at all. Damian instead had picked a rather boring costume in Jasper's opinion. He was wearing a white old lab coat of his, which was smeared with bloody hand and fingerprints. The blood was of course only fake blood and a stethoscope hung around his neck. It still wasn't very inventive or original.

"T-thanks Damian", Sophia smiled and blushed at his compliment, "I wonder if Knight will even recognize you in that costume, Jasper", Sophia wondered out loud, but probably wanted only to distract from how much she couldn't stop smiling after Damian's words. Jasper noticed it with a grim face, but let it slide this time.
